Dorothy Vandekieft, LLMSW, is a clinical social worker who brings warmth, curiosity, and a steady presence to her work. Her first career as a high school teacher shaped her belief in meeting people where they are and supporting growth through attunement, structure, and compassion. Dorothy’s approach blends humanistic, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and strengths-focused perspectives, with an emphasis on helping clients build self-worth, self-compassion, and confidence in their own internal resources.

Dorothy earned her MSW from Wayne State University and completed clinical training in community mental health, and at the University of Michigan Counseling and Psychological Services, where she supported college students navigating identity development and the pressures of emerging adulthood. She also has experience in inpatient psychiatric care with older adults, helping clients through acute stressors, loss, and major life transitions.
