Michael VanderWaal is a clinical social worker who specializes in working with individuals and groups, offering a compassionate, relational approach to therapy. He focuses on helping clients navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and psychedelic integration, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth.

Michael earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan in 2018 and holds a Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research (CPTR) from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). He has completed advanced training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which he has been practicing for the past four years, and has also completed parts A through D of the MDMA therapy training through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).

In his practice, Michael integrates various therapeutic modalities, including Ericksonian hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), existential therapy, transpersonal approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Jungian therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. His clinical focus includes trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, psychedelic integration, spirituality, stress management, men’s issues, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy.

Michael offers in-person individual and group sessions for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), including preparation, integration, and experiential KAP sessions. He also offers virtual therapy for clients seeking ongoing support. He is is currently accepting new clients for both individual and group work.
