Our goal is to always be respectful of our patient's time, energy and resources. We always hope to help patients get relief and ontrack to living a better life as quickly as possible. That being said the process of therapy involves building a relationship between yourself and your therapist, which like all relationships takes some time. Therapy is a collaborative process. There are some who prefer to take things slow, and others who are ready to get right into the hard stuff. We are happy to meet you where you are. We seek to create a lasting shift that will allow our patients to have sustained improvement in quality of life.
Therapy can help with all kinds of things! Commonly people seek therapy for stress, anxiety, relationship issues, breakups, trauma, life transitions (graduation, divorce, having a baby), grief, feeling down, self-esteem, and many other concerns. People also seek therapy for greater self-understanding, and to give themselves an edge in school or at work! If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or want to grow into your best self, therapy is often beneficial. Having the experienced therapists at Joy Family Center as part of your personal life-team is a sure-fire way to start optimizing the life you live!
For your first session we recommend to bring an open mind and a sense of pride for taking a big step in growing as a person. Many people will often bring a list of questions or concerns they'd like to discuss. This helps your therapist understand your needs and goals. No worries if we don't cover everything in the first meeting. These things can take time.
Referrals from other providers are always welcomed at Joy Family Center. We greatly appreciate our community partners. One of the reasons our community partners continue to refer their patients to us is because they know we share their value of excellent patient care. With that said, there are multiple ways to refer a person to us.
1. Direct your patient to fill out the "Appointment Request" form and we will follow up with them. We make every effort to respond to every patient request within 1 business day. There are already so many barriers to mental health care, we try to eliminate
2. Fax a patient's information with the signed ROI form to 855-952-2422 and we will reach out and follow up.
3. You or they may contact our office manager at 734-215-5853 and we can take the necessary information.
We understand that waiting is often a barrier to accessing treatment. Joy Family Center is committed to reducing this as a barrier to better mental health. For many who reach out we are able to get them seen within a week of reaching out. We do our best to keep this as a standard, but can vary with the availability of our clinicians. Also, on occasion, we have patients with specific requests which may take longer to find the right match, or for the best clinician for them to become available.
Our standard as a practice is to respond to every person who reaches out to us, and if we miss your call, we will call you back. If we aren't the right practice to address your needs, we will happily help point you toward a community partner who may be a better fit. We want to see you grow and improve your life and believe in being good stewards of mental health, even when it means utilizing services from other providers. We want to support any, and all, people who are looking to live better.
Most often when people have therapy they see their therapist once per week. There are times where more frequent visits may be appropriate. There are also times when less frequent visits are the best course of action. We always try and identify what would be in the best interest of our patients along with their needs and goals within therapy. All of our therapists are happy to discuss their vision for treatment and course of treatment.
